VENUE
Aveiro
is a medium sized town with a versatile mix of beaches, country
and mountains, and the center of the Ria de Aveiro, a unique river
mouth region with a remarkable maritime wildlife and a natural
reserve within its shores. Participants can enjoy the relaxation
and quietness of small metropolis while benefiting from high standard
communication and accommodation facilities.
Aveiro is also home to a new University with a strong linkages
to the National and European innovation networks. Within this
framework, the University hosts several research units focused
on advanced research. |

Universidade
de Aveiro concentrates in
the University Campus of Santiago, a vast area placed between the
river mouth region and the lively town center. |
The
campus spreads throughout 40 buildings that provide all the physical
and communications infrastructures necessary for academic learning
and research, including a WLAN facility that covers the entire
campus.
The campus buildings were projected by an array of prestigious
Portuguese architects, thus making them a show room of Portuguese
modern architecture, permanently visited all year round.
The
Congress will take place in the University Campus in Complexo
Pedagógico, Reitoria e Pavilhão
Aristides Hall buildings.

How
to get to Aveiro
Aveiro
is located about 60Km south of Porto and 260Km north of Lisbon,
close to the sea, with the nearest airports located in Lisbon
and Oporto. From these airports it can be easily reached by train
or by car.
Railway
Connections:
The train is probably the most comfortable way to travel to Aveiro.
There are many daily connections starting from Lisbon and Porto.
You may look up the timetables at the site of the Portuguese Railways.
If you arrive to Porto (Sá Carneiro Airport), take a taxi
to "Campanhã" railway station. The trip should
take around 20 minutes, without traffic jams. The fare should
be around 25 Euro (with luggage). From “Campanhã”
railway station it takes about 45-60 minutes from Porto to Aveiro,
and there are trains about twice an hour.
If you arrive at Lisbon International Airport, take a taxi to
"Oriente" railway station. The trip should take about
10 minutes, but this may vary depending on the existing traffic.
The fare should be near 10 Euro (with luggage). From “Oriente”
railway station it takes about 2h30-3h to reach Aveiro, using
the fast trains (Alfa, Intercidades).
Road
Connections (you may rent a car at the airport):
From Sá Carneiro Airport ( Porto), take Porto direction,
near Porto take highway A1 Lisboa. After about 70 km, take the
exit "Aveiro" and then follow the “A25-Aveiro”
directions.
From Lisbon International Airport, take the highway A1, direction
"Norte". After about 260 km, take the exit "Aveiro-Sul"
and follow the “Aveiro” directions. |
Transports
within Aveiro
All the hotels within Aveiro, railway station, the conference
site and most points of interest are within walking distance (30
min max), but Aveiro has a bus public transport system that serves
the city of Aveiro and the surroundings.
To
reach the University
From Aveiro hotels the University can be reached by walk (1.500
m distance from the farthest hotel).
